Planning the Perfect Bachelorette Party

Throwing a Bachelorette Theme Party can take some great organizational skills. Often the guests and the bride-to-be all want to do some sort of dinner at a nice restaurant and then a bar crawl to cap off the night. this can prove to be an exhausting amount of perfect coordination on the part of the Maid of Honor or the designated Bachelorette Theme Party Planner.

First of all, the date of the party should be decided upon. Many will try to plan this party during the week before the wedding because out of town guests may be available to participate. this, however, can be a very bad time to hold a party. Imagine, for instance, that during the night of drinking and debauchery the bride takes a tumble and sprains her ankle – that walk down the aisle is not going to be near as graceful or a pretty. And, what if when she fell she hit her face on the concrete or a table? you got it, a great big shiner for all time and eternity in her wedding portraits. No, plan the get-together at least 2 weeks in advance. if the out-of-town guests want a nice get together, plan a Bridal Tea or something much safer a couple of afternoons before the big day but don’t put off the Bachelorette Party that long. there is just too much going in favor of Murphy’s Law to risk it

Planning activities may be restricted by the number of guests the bride wants to invite. get a guest list as soon as possible (even as far in advance as 3-4 months) so you can anticipate the size of venue you will need to go to and exactly what type of people you will be dealing with. planning a Bachelorette Theme Party can make you feel, more often than not, like a sheep dog, trying to herd the ladies from place to place or from activity to activity. this is especially true if alcohol is involved, so keep some Excedrin and a large bottle of water near by at all times

Beyond the bar crawl/karaoke night, consider so other less complicated activities. for instance, what about having a spa party/sleep over at your favorite hotel and hiring a personal masseuse to come in and give quality massages to the guests. then giving each other facials, manicures, pedicures, etc. while munching on room service and drinking margaritas? you could even arrange for a male stripper to visit near the bewitching hour and dance for the group. if money is no issue, how about a quick flight to Vegas to spend an afternoon or two by the pool and to take in dinner and show?

The main rule to planning a successful Bachelorette Theme Party is to create an atmosphere where people can relax and enjoy themselves. after all, this is the coming of age to a more mature life and is the perfect opportunity to start new yearly traditions for you girls to enjoy. keep everyone safe and remember to have a lot of fun.

Bride Dies Of Ovarian Cancer 90 Minutes Before Her Wedding

By Debbie EmeryRadar Reporter

A British bride-to-be who dreamed of walking down the aisle despite a long-term battle with cancer lost her fight for life 90 minutes before she managed to say, “Til death do us part.”

Jemma Webb, 32, had been due to marry fiancé Alex Bradford, 30, at a beautiful English country house next month, but the date was brought forward as her condition worsened, reported the Telegraph.co.uk .

PHOTOS: Beautiful Bride Loses Cancer Battle 90 Minutes before Wedding

The hopeful couple moved the date forward by two weeks and were due to tie the knot at 4.30 pm last Saturday in their hometown of Exeter, Devon, but sadly Jemma lost her four-year fight against ovarian cancer at 3 pm.

“On the day she was obviously excited and I was too. but by 2pm she got worse and within an hour she had passed away,” said Jemma’s husband-to-be. “She just kept herself together all through the illness. some people give up but she always thought she was going to beat it.”

Webb was already diagnosed with the deadly disease by the time she met the man of her dreams nine months ago while they worked together at EDF Energy in Exeter, although Alex didn’t realize he she was sick at first.

“I didn’t know she was ill, you wouldn’t,” he said.

“It was just a normal relationship as you could imagine to start with,  but then two months in the cancer spread to her liver and her lungs and I  knew then that I had to be there for her,” said Bradford.

Alex popped the question in January and the happy couple quickly began making plans to walk down the aisle at a historical Georgian mansion in Dartmoor National Park. “But I loved her – it was as simple as that, so it was never really a decision,” revealed Alex.

Jemma’s lust for life touched the hearts of everyone who knew her, and at her funeral this week ,“there was about four times the church outside and inside, they had to do it by a loudspeaker,” said her father, Bob Webb.

Her legacy will live on in her campaign for the Eve Appeal gynecological cancer research charity, for which she had run a half marathon even after undergoing chemotherapy.

Ten audience reactions at a ‘Hunger Games’ midnight premiere in NYC (SPOILERS AHEAD!)

by Marc Snetiker and Michelle Profis

Happy Hunger Games! If you were one of the devoted few (or apparently, the not-so-few) to attend the first midnight screenings of the film, chances are your moviegoing experience was something similar to the experiences we had in two separate screening rooms in a Times Square theater last night.

On the costume front, filled with Effies and Senecas and Katnisses (Katni?), overflowing with side-braids and Mockingjay pins. Lines snaking throughout the entire cineplex, with at least one bathroom queue overflowing down the aisle of an actual theater. Fans re-reading the books while patiently waiting, chanting the words “Hunger Games” and chattering about tributes, sponsors, and something called a Peeta.

Above all, you probably got to experience the single best part of going to a midnight screening (depending on what kind of franchise fan you are): the ridiculously unrestrained audience reactions. and if you hate it, then tough luck, because in buying a ticket, you know exactly what you’re getting into. there may be something in the phrase “midnight showing” that’s synonymous with heckling, hollering, and altogether audible audiences. Peppered in throughout the Hunger Games, there were dozens of spontaneous bursts of vocalism; here are just a few we experienced (WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! YOU CANNOT GET MORE SPOILED THAN THIS!):

(A quick aside on the trailers: Midnight premieres are typically an interesting — though not particularly enduring — barometer for first impressions of other high-profile franchises. last night at Times Square, The amazing Spider-Man was cheered, Battleship was jeered, and teasers for both of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s forthcoming films, Twilight: Breaking Dawn – part 2 and The Host, received universal boos, despite — or perhaps because of — the frequent comparisons between the former and Hunger Games.)

And the top 10 moments that had the audience going wild:

10. biggest laugh: Between Elizabeth Banks’ Effie, Woody Harrelson’s Haymitch and Stanley Tucci’s Caesar, there was no shortage of comic relief – and the crowd made that wildly evident, as almost every line by these three fan favorites was delivered to raucous laughter and theater-wide hysterics. But oddly enough, the biggest laugh came not from Effie’s colorful musings or Caesar’s mugging to the camera, but rather, it was Haymitch’s written nudge — “You call that a kiss?” — that busted guts.

9. most inappropriate entrance applause: Peeta’s selection at the reaping, with a crowd of relieved District 12 boys revealing the baker-slash-painter after his name is called, was the first sign of a booming crowd welcome (it’s clear which side of the love triangle the theater was rooting for). Amid the gravitas of the situation on screen, one girl on Team Peeta even crassly called out for Capital-caliber coitus.

8. most appropriate entrance applause: The character to receive the warmest crowd welcome was Lenny Kravitz’s stylist Cinna, whose debut in the Remake Center drew an absolute eruption from the girls in the audience. I’d wager that if Team Cinna shirts were readily available, they’d far outsell any others.

7. most polarizing moment: Katniss’ grand entrance in the tribute parade — where she earns the nickname “the Girl on Fire” — was the movie’s first big moment that franchise fans were dying to see interpreted. so how’d it go over? as the music swelled, the chariot rolled, and the bright artificial flames engulfed Katniss and Peeta, the moment sent the audience into a frenzy of cheers…in one theater. in another, the hotly anticipated effect fell totally flat, with some whispering that the moment was utterly anti-climactic.

6. biggest gross-out: the bloody Cornucopia battle got some quiet murmurs, but the  sharp intake of breath through gritted teeth during extreme close-ups of Katniss and Peeta’s gory leg wounds was unmistakable when 200 people did it at once.

5. Loudest cheer: Every franchise action movie has its share of saves-the-day scenes, and the Hunger Games‘ best received of such moments came when Thresh rescued an ailing Katniss, who was about to become deli meat at the knife-wielding hand of Clove. when he violently disposed of Clove and told Katniss, “Just this time, Twelve, for Rue,” the flood of satisfaction was palpable, even at 2:00 a.m.

4. Best scare: the entire theater was waiting for those vicious mutts to burst through the woods and break the eerie silence of Katniss and Peeta wandering at night — and it was still scary enough to catch the audience off guard, resulting in a chorus of shrieks and screams, and a few folks literally jumping out of their seats.

3. biggest shock: Cato’s vengeance on an absent-minded tribute after he accidentally allows Katniss to blow up the alliance’s supplies is, in a word, horrific. with no other sound but the snapping of the tribute’s neck, Cato shows that his temper tantrums are something you don’t want to be on the receiving end of.

2. Loudest sobbing: From the first second that Rue appeared on screen, those in the audience who knew what would eventually befall her were preparing themselves for the worst. Though she earned cheers for her wit and for coming to the rescue of a tree-trapped Katniss, the most undisputedly touching moment in the entire film was her death, which sparked a range of reactions from quiet weeping to full-on wails of grief. in one theater, a girl distributed tissues to other sobbing moviegoers, and when Katniss finally broke down, so, too, did the crowd.

1. and the moment everyone was talking about: Katniss and Peeta’s kiss in the cave was the climax of the film’s love story, and for Team Peeta fans, it was a gratifying moment. when the camera switched to a shot of Gale watching the romance unfold, though, the romantic tension had the audience making “oh, snap!” faces. that reaction said it all. A love triangle may be secondary to this franchise’s plot, but if anything was clear through bleary midnight eyes, it was that audiences love the entangled romance of Katniss, Peeta and Gale. we saw both theaters pick their sides, and it looks like fans are ready to throw down over their recommendation for Katniss’s heart. since poor Gale doesn’t even get a shot with Katniss until Catching Fire, it’s apparent that the love triangle will heat up until it catches fire, too.

Things are going to get interesting, Hunger Games fans. what were your favorite audience moments? More importantly, whose side are YOU on?

Campus reacts to upcoming visit from president

Following yesterday’s announcement that President Barack Obama will be speaking at the University this Friday, campus leaders and students on both sides of the aisle expressed excitement for the upcoming visit from the nation’s leader.

Though Obama is expected to discuss college affordability in his speech, students said they hope he also discusses ongoing issues pertaining to job growth and rebuilding the economy in Michigan — topics particularly important to students getting ready to enter the workforce.

Anton Dirnberger, chair of the University’s chapter of College Republicans, said though he disagrees with Obama’s views on several issues, he respects the “office of the presidency.”

“I think as a Wolverine, that’s great to have the President — no matter what party he is a part of — come to campus,” Dirnberger said.

However, Dirnberger expressed frustration that Obama is attempting to garner electoral support amid economic difficulties that continue to afflict the nation, adding that he anticipates that the president will be more focused on campaigning in his speech than discussing impactful policy.

“It’s pretty much a campaign speech — we all know that,” Dirnberger said. “I wish, and I think a lot of people do, that he would spend more time trying to work out some ideal situations to get some Americans back to work.”

Dirnberger said though he would be somewhat interested in hearing Obama’s views on higher education, he would rather hear him speak about his decision to reject plans for the Keystone XL oil pipeline — a transnational project that would install an oil pipeline stretching from Canada to Texas.

“I know he definitely won’t be talking about that, but that’s what I would like to hear,” Dirnberger said.

Dirnberger said he hopes that Obama won’t suggest raising taxes to make college more affordable.

Though about 50 students protested at House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-Va) speech at the Michigan League in October, Dirnberger said the group does not plan to protest against Obama’s speech, adding that he was particularly upset with the protests staged during Cantor’s speech.

“As a Wolverine, I think we should hold ourselves to higher standards,” Dirnberger said.

Amanda Caldwell, chair of the University’s chapter of College Democrats, said she has received various e-mails from members requesting information about the upcoming speech, including students not involved with the organization inquiring about obtaining tickets.

“We are all very excited for him to visit,” Caldwell said.

Caldwell said she expects that the president will discuss financial strains on students and highlight research being done at the University, adding that his speech will likely be related to his State of the Union address tonight.

In addition to college affordability, Rackham student Hakeem Jefferson said he anticipates Obama to speak about job growth or educational initiatives — topics he said he thinks are important to improve the state’s economy.

“I’m excited that the president’s coming to town,” Jefferson said. “I think it’s important for him to come to town not only because he’s looking to get elected in November, but because Michigan probably needs to hear more about his jobs plan and … know more about what he’s going to do to help the economy improve.”

Nursing freshman Monica Sehgal said she’s happy that the president is returning to campus following his 2010 Spring Commencement address. But, because this is Obama’s second trip to the University in the past two years, Sehgal said the president should also make an effort to visit other colleges in Michigan.

“I feel like he’s coming to the University of Michigan because it’s a liberal school,” Sehgal said.

Basketball Legend Michael Jordan Is Newly Engaged To Yvette Prieto

Post by Chelle Jones, Dec 29, 2011 at 7:58 pm

While sports super stars’ marriages are failing left and right, Michael Jordan seems to have found love amongst all of the crazies. He’s been dating his girlfriend, Yvette Prieto, for quite some time and the two have decided that walking down the aisle together is the next step in their relationship.

She’s a 32 year old Cuban bombshell, and Mike is 48 years old now– so you know he’s keeping up with her and she’s keeping him young (Perhaps the reason he’s talking about sports comebacks?).

And as we all know, the Bulls icon was married close to 20 years some time ago, and lost out to a whole lot of cash when those papers were filed. so you can bet he’s getting a prenup drafted this time around. especially after seeing Kobe, Deion and Kris all go through divorces in the last couple of months alone!

A representative for the glowing couple confirmed their engagement which began on Christmas to News36.

What do you think, will these two stand the test of time?

If the pair are indeed set to walk down the aisle, this will make for Steven’s third time exchanging vows – as he was previously married to both Cyrinda Foxe and Teresa Barrick.

A ring is a very common accessory that is worn by a maximum number of people the world over. Fashion is trendy, comfortable and totally subjective. Usually celebrities, retail stores and designers try starting trends when it comes to fashion but everything finally depends on what an individual prefers wearing.

Designers realize this in terms of jewelry which is why they try to create something that everyone can use. Of course, it is a fact that they try to start a new style by presenting a design on the red carpet. They also try to cater to the tastes of a...
