So far, the Apple-centric blog has correctly anticipated the date of Apple's new iPad unveiling, as well as its 4G LTE capability. It now predicts that the new iPhone will debut in fall, around the time the iPhone 4S was launched last year. The smaller dock rumors are hardly news anymore, as another Japanese blog, Macotakara, claimed as far back as in October 2011 that smaller ports were headed to the iPhone and iPad.

Meanwhile, RepairLabs has recently reported that Texas Instrumentals has already started manufacturing the iPhone 5's power management chip. Texas instruments is one of Apple's suppliers, handling the manufacture of components such as the touchscreen controller and the power management chips found in the iPhone 4S and the new iPad. ReparLabs also claims that Texas Instruments calls the new iPhone the “iPhone 5″, busting rumors that Apple would follow call the sixth generation iPhone “the new iPhone,” just as it named the third generation iPad, “the new iPad.”

Bigger Screen

Also citing anonymous “internal sources” that are “extremely reliable,” RepairLabs claims the screen will be bigger than the current 3.5-inch size, but it is uncertain whether it will be as big as the rumored 4.6-inch. according to Reuters, South Korean publication Maeli Business Newspaper published a report on March 21, citing an unnamed “industry source,” saying that Apple had ordered 4.6-inch screens for the next-generation iPhone.

Two days later, however, iMore's editor-in-chief Rene Ritchie stated that the iPhone 5 will feature the same 3.5-inch screen as all previous-generation iPhones, but will sport a few new features. When it comes to release date, Ritchie forecasts an October 2012 launch, and he has a solid track record with Apple predictions.

Last August, while all other sites expected Apple to unveil the iPhone 5, Ritchie accurately reported that it would be called “iPhone 4S” and it would be unveiled in the first week of October. in addition, Ritchie also correctly predicted the March 7 date for the new iPad's unveiling. Regarding the iPhone 5's screen size, Ritchie believes it “could get a little bigger,” but not nearly as big as the 4.5-inch plus Android smartphones.

Other rumors point to an iPhone 5 with better battery efficiency, s quad-core processor, NFC technology, Siri v2.0, better screen resolution, better camera, a new design, and much, much more.

If you are familiar with the popular push alert app, Boxcar, you’ll already know it’s capable of providing push alerts for a healthy list of different services. one of the more interesting features of Boxcar is the capability to customize the app that is opened with each alert.

For example, if you’re using a Twitter app that lacks push, you can use Boxcar to alert you of new Mentions, then set it to open the Twitter app instead of Boxcar when the alert is received (assuming the app is supported by Boxcar).

After posting about the release of Sparrow earlier today, Boxcar let me know they had integrated Sparrow, which was great to hear. With a lack of push alerts in Sparrow, it only seems fitting for Boxcar to integrate Sparrow into its e-mail alerts.

1. To get started you will need to download the free Boxcar app from the App Store, if you don’t have it already.

2. You will need to add the e-mail service to your Boxcar account. Scroll down the list of services until you find the E-mail Account option. Select it.

3. You will want to change the Opens section from Boxcar to Sparrow. you can also change the sound that is made when an alert is received, as well as the alert style. The default alert style is to display the full e-mail in the alert, so if you prefer more privacy, make sure to change it.
4. Save your settings when you are done. An e-mail will then be sent to your account e-mail address providing you with the instructions to finish setting up Boxcar e-mail alerts.

   In the e-mail you receive from Boxcar, you will be given a unique e-mail address to use in setting up your alerts. you will then need to go into your e-mail account settings and forward incoming e-mails to the Boxcar address. if you receive a lot of e-mail, or even if you just want to save some sanity, you can set up e-mail filters to only forward e-mails based off of sender or subject.

5. Once you have set up forwarding to your Boxcar e-mail address, have a friend send you a test e-mail. if all is working properly, you will receive a Boxcar alert that will then launch into Sparrow once you open it.

A little weary about forwarding your e-mails to Boxcar? I can’t say I blame you, but if it makes you feel any better, Boxcar only keeps the sender and subject line of any e-mail forwarded to the service.

It’s not a perfect solution, and sure it involves some extra steps, but for those who can’t live without push, it will work.

How to add push alerts to Sparrow for iPhone

Based on a recent job posting on Apple’s corporate Web site, Apple is looking to expand its iCloud offerings with new and innovative applications to better utilize the server-based technologies it offersiPhone,iPad, andiPod Touch users.

The post shows that Apple is looking for “proactive, creative-minded engineers to build the next generation of cocoa-based client applications that integrate tightly with a set of cloud based services.”

The responsibilities of the position are to develop new and existing applications for iCloud services, help define and implement user interfaces, and build products that people want to use every day.

The last responsibility is perhaps the most important one. The free iCloud already offers e-mail services and syncing for contacts, calendars, and documents as well as the capability to find your devices. By leveraging Apple’s existing user base and technologies, iCloud could prove to be one of Apple’s most valuable services when enticing potential customers to buy an iPhone.

Any number of applications could be built on top of iCloud. As we look around some popular apps for iPhone and iPad, social networking giants like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, and Foursquare could all see competition from Apple in the near future.
