Samsung Galaxy S3: Forget iPhone 5, HTC One X is the Real Threat to Samsung Super Phone

Like us on Facebook

And, if the rumors are to be believed, Samsung Galaxy S3 will sport a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED plus display with 720p resolution. it will have a super fast processor, possibly quad-core Exynos CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz. The device will come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Giving expandable memory options, it will support microSD card up to 64GB. Samsung's best bet will run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 with TouchWiz overlay.  Samsung may also upgrade its 8-megapixel camera in Galaxy S2 to a powerful 12-megapixel camera that can record 1080p videos at 60fps in its upcoming flagship model. but these are all rumors and hardly any device is same as what it is speculated or rumored.

It is also possible that the specs will be almost similar to the ones offered by HTC One X. HTC's flagship model has 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution. it has quad-core 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 processor chip and 1GB of RAM. The device has 32GB of internal storage but it lacks microSD card slot. it has 8-megapixel rear camera that records 1080p videos at 30fps.

One X could also sport a mouth-watering design as the Taiwanese firm is well known for making stylish and sleek casing. on the other hand, Samsung's Galaxy S2 has been criticized for its cheap plastic back cover. Hence, in reality, Galaxy S3 can miss out few of the above-mentioned features and the real Galaxy S3 may not be a significant improvement over HTC One X, after all.

According to latest reports, HTC One X will come out in the first week of April while Samsung is rumored to unveil Galaxy S3 on may 22. other reports claim Galaxy S3 could be released as early as March 30.

Apple iPhone5 to have same 3.5” screen, launch in autumn 2012

Photo: Apple

Even with the launch of any iPhone 5 handset likely months away, the rumours continue to flow in. the latest one says the new iPhone will not have an extra large 4.6 inch screen after all, but that it would be arriving in the autumn of 2012 with features like on board 4G LTE.

Design overhaul hoped for

The Apple iPhone 4S brought us Siri, an iOS update, as well as faster processors and a better camera. still, the upgrade was considered relatively minor, with many Apple fans hoping that the next iPhone, or iPhone 5, will feature a design overhaul as well, just like the original iPhone 4 did.

Screen size remains the same

The Apple handset’s display, in particular, has come under fire for its relatively small 3.5 inch screen size, which has remained the same as the first iPhone, despite receiving a retina pixel upgrade. Android phone models like the Samsung Galaxy Note or HTC One X, in contrast, are sporting ever more gigantic screen sizes. There’s been a lot of demand for Apple to do the same and, recently, rumours coming out Korea suggested they were.

In order to stay ahead of the game, you've got to be organized, aware of what's going on, and have easy access to the latest financial news. The Internet has quickly become the number on means of getting and sharing information immediately. This is crucial for keeping up with finance. Furthermore, websites like Google.com have additional tools and resources to stay updated and informed about the financial market. Google Finance is a branch from Google.com that focuses solely on the financial information and news that is so...

4.6” rumours

In widely reported speculation, South Korean sources indicated that the iPhone 5 would have the same 4.6 inch display size as another highly anticipated smartphone, namely, the Galaxy S3. this would definitely make sense, considering the new standard for high-end handsets seems to be that bigger is better. Indeed, a recent study confirmed that phone users prefer larger-than-iPhone displays. nevertheless, the source remained unnamed and, upon closer inspection, the rumour seems untrue.

Would require app redesigns

The Apple insider John Gruber from Daringfireball.net, who is a go-to person on Apple news, basically threw cold water on the entire notion of an iPhone with a 4.6 inch screen. His argument was that any new iPhone would need to retain a Retina resolution, which would not only require many many more pixels, but would also necessitate that every current iPhone app be redesigned or resized.

Screen not getting bigger

If Gruber’s argument isn’t enough to convince you, then maybe the newest iPhone5 rumours coming from iMore (which has a history of getting Apple speculation right in the past) will. Basically, iMore says that the next Apple smartphone will either maintain an identically sized screen, or that it could possibly get a bit bigger (but nothing near models like the HTC One X). this news appears more realistic, although it’s certainly disappointing for those who wanted a large screen iPhone.

Additionally, iMore claimed to have learned a bit more about the next new iPhone. Apparently it would support 4G LTE (which is real 4G and not just HSPA+ like some smartphones), as well as a smaller dock connector. the latter tidbit might not seem like big news, but the move is to help free up more space inside the iPhone 5 itself. So, naturally we can expect the next-gen Apple phone to feature faster and better hardware too. an iOS update is anticipated as well.

October 2012 release likely

iMore also had some news on the phone’s release date, which they said would almost definitely be in the autumn of 2012 and probably in October, or about a year since the launch the iPhone 4S. the launch date conforms to what the earlier Korean source speculated. Moreover, reports coming from Foxconn in China reveal that the supplier is set to hire an extra 20,000 workers at one of its plants, specifically to develop the next-gen Apple smartphone. this means that a 2012 release date is looking more and more like a sure thing.

Another minor iPhone update?

If Apple were to keep its iPhone 5 screen the same size, then the company would probably have to make up for it drastically elsewhere. It got away with its last ‘minor’ update, largely thanks to Siri, but the company will need something more than just LTE to pull off an iPhone 5 model, especially with the increasingly better Android competition. How important is it for the next iPhone to sport a large, over 4” inch screen? Is it a deal-breaker for you and would it make you convert to Android? Let us know.

The Samsung Galaxy S III Leaks Again, Is This Sammy’s iPhone 5 Fighter?

2011 was huge for Samsung. 2012 needs to be even bigger. Last year, Samsung showed the mobile world that they could produce world-class handsets and a proper ecosystem within the confines of Android. But now, in 2012, Samsung needs to demonstrate that they have staying power. And if several recent Samsung Galaxy S III leaks are believed, the Korean company should not have any problem standing tall against Apple and the rest. This phone looks hot.

The first leak (below) appeared over the weekend. a tall phone, rounded corners, a combination of hardware and capacitive buttons and impossibly thin. The image (rendering?) seemed to come from Weber Shandwick, a PR firm known to work with Samsung. The images show a phone running a TouchWiz-ified version of Ice Cream Sandwich. The images do not confirm any of the rumored hardware specs like a 1080p display or quad-core CPU, but it’s easy to look at the pics and see the casing being made out of ceramic like the rumors state.

Today’s image is more of the same. In fact it is the same besides a slightly different ICS skin. it looks like a press image. The design line up with the previous leak, somewhat confirming that this is, in fact, the Samsung Galaxy S III.

All will be confirmed in the coming months. Samsung is rumored to launch the phone in April or May while outing more versions of the phone throughout the remainder of the year including a Note and high-resolution camera version. The Galaxy S II was a blockbuster hit last year. Can lightning strike twice? I believe so.

I dumped my iPhone 4 for the Android Galaxy Nexus

Computerworld – I like a lot of things about my iPhone 4. For starters, even though I live in a dead zone for both AT&T and Verizon, right out of the box my AT&T iPhone 4 got noticeably better reception than my original iPhone. That whole “antennagate” thing was overblown. Lots of phones drop bars if you grip them a certain way while in a weak signal area. (My new Galaxy Nexus does.) A simple iPhone 4 case prevented any loss of signal reception due to hand shielding.

I’ve always felt that the iPhone 4′s screen is too small. and the virtual keyboard is all but unusable to me. even so, it wasn’t the iPhone’s fault that I decided to shelve it in favor of a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. most of my frustration comes directly from Apple. After a long period of glasnost, Apple seems to be closing its ecosystem again.

CalDAV, really?

For example, after years of offering its SyncServices for calendar and contact syncing, Apple abruptly switched away from that service on the eve of the launches of both iCloud and Office 2011, falling back to CalDAV for calendar scheduling and syncing. The fact that Outlook 2011 for the Mac doesn’t appear to support CalDAV is Microsoft’s bad. Outlook 2011 does have support for Apple’s abandoned SyncServices (go figure). The problem for me is that to sync with your Macs, iOS devices and iCloud, your calendar data must reside in iCloud (not on your computer where you can back it up). and iCloud’s rendition of CalDAV isn’t “compatible” with third-party CalDAV implementations. as a result — shocker — iCloud can’t fully sync with Google’s CalDAV setup for Google Calendar.

To get Google Calendar and iCal to fully sync, I had pull down my data from iCloud to my computer and purchase a third-party utility called Spanning Sync, which costs $25 a year. it really irks me when end users are forced to pay a price because vendors are locked in mortal combat. Customer first? Apple apparently doesn’t care about that.

More surprises

Only a couple months later, my second Apple surprise occurred when I decided to migrate Apple Mail to Outlook 2011. That’s when I discovered that OS X Lion users are locked into Apple Mail for all intents and purposes. when you upgrade to Lion, you’re also upgrading Apple Mail’s mailbox format. Apple decided to quietly abandon its support for the .mbox standard used by a wide variety of email applications. Beginning with Lion, Apple Mail now uses its own proprietary mailbox structure. Guess what? Outlook’s email importer no longer works with Lion’s version of Apple Mail. and Apple doesn’t offer an exporter. Once again I’m stymied and stuck with Apple’s ecosystem because of careless or planned Apple lock-in.

DROID Duo To Strike Verizon Hard Before Samsung Galaxy S3 & iPhone 5

The two most talked about smartphones of 2012 are without a doubt the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3. And big Red for one is expected to get both devices sometime this year given that they were the home to both the Verizon iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S.

While rumors suggest that we will not likely see the iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3 hit big Red earlier than this summer, there are now two more ‘superphones’ to heat things up on big Red.

The Nokia N8 Mobile Phone Latest News

"If you're looking for the Nokia N8 mobile phone latest news then, pull up a chair and buckle down, because this is the article that you've been looking for."

The latest mobile phone from Nokia was delayed due to a technical hitch, but worth the wait and what a superb product and a must have for any gadget lover.

This is very user friendly phone and has all of the expected requirements like popular applications like the BBC iPlayer, Facebook and YouTube, has it's own OVI store where you can set up and create your own menu layout to suit your own...

At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, iPhone 4S and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX are the hottest smartphones on VZW. A recent leak now puts two new DROID smartphones headed to big Red, both featuring specs that can match if not top the best that big Red has to offer at the moment.

Motorola DROID Fighter and HTC DROID Incredible 4G

Starting with the Motorola DROID Fighter, this smartphone looks will no doubt kill RAZR MAXX sales. taking the same 3,300mAh battery that is the best thing about the RAZR MAXX, it throws in a larger 4.6-inch HD display and on-screen buttons like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. according to the folks over at AndroidAndMe, the Motorola DROID Fighter could be one of the first phones with the new dual-core 1.8 GHz OMAP4470 that has a faster PowerVR SGX544 GPU. its release date is tipped for April 12.

Verizon HTC DROID Incredible 4G

Rumored to hit shelves on April 26th, the HTC DROID Incredible 4G is one of the superphones HTC revealed back at MWC, however with some subtle changes. Rumored specs include a 1.2 GHz processor Snapdragon S4, qHD AMOLED display, 1 GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, front-facing VGA camera, 4G LTE, and Beats Audio. It will run Android 4.0 just like the DROID Fighter.A recent benchmark on Nenamark suggests that is packs the Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU.

The DROID Fighter looks like the better choice on paper so we will have to see where they stand in April when both are expected to officially be announced.

iPhone 4S: Features and Challenges

Since its launch, the iPhone 4S has gathered a mixed bag of reviews. while some were disappointed with the same old looks, missing NFC, no 4G connectivity, the others could not stop talking about the new optics and Siri. However, there are a good number of users who have bought this Apple device for the other popular Android devices like Samsung Galaxy S2, Motorola Droid Razr, etc. This post highlights why you must buy the iPhone 4S and be aware of any associated challenges.

Unlike some of the popular hot selling Android phones, the iPhone 4S runs on the latest iOS 5 software. Some of its key features and applications are A5 dual processor, Siri, iCloud, support for dual bands, an 8Megapixel camera, over-the-air iOS upgrades etc. The iPhone 4S is also the first global smartphone released by Apple. It works on both the telecom bands – GSM and CDMA. In spite of having a string of signature features, it does pose some challenges for users and enterprises. Some of them are:

  1. Data Loss from iCloud: Users can store their device data on different devices in a centralized location in the cloud. to prevent any confidential data loss, it is recommended not to upload any sensitive personal and financial information in the cloud. IT administrators can enforce data protection in the iCloud by deploying different device data management policies. However, the prerequisite to monitor these smart devices is to have an in-house or third-party mobile device managemnt (MDM) solution.
  2. Siri: Apple has designed Siri with a smart voice recognition technology to recognize voice accents, eliminate background noise and interpret commands without errors. since Siri’s intelligence and voice recognition capabilities are dependent on Apple’s back-end server, its performance is dependent on the load of the servers. Also, Apple has not yet released any APIs for app developers to integrate Siri into new or existing applications.
  3. Corporate Data Leakage: Many enterprise users may knowingly or unknowingly take photographs of important documents or designs or share sensitive corporate data with the outside world over iMessage. thus, IT administrators must identify the potential threats, educate the employees of smartphone policies and implications on violating them, deploy essential tools or MDM solutions in the infrastructure to control the data loss.

Furthermore, enterprises and users may feel concerned about being burdened with long and expensive phone bills and heavy data roaming charges. Using an MDM solution, enterprises may impose data usage policies for different devices to send warnings when a user reaches his data limit. if required, enterprises may also deploy a mobile expense management solution to track and manage the mobile expenses. Check this page for more details on supporting iOS 5 devices in your enterprise.
