iPhone5.com Filed For Ownership by Apple

The iPhone 5 has been a very rumored device for the past two years and, and even after its non existence, and the rather disappointing announcement of the 4S, everyone is wondering, what will happen to the iPhone 5?

Recently, Apple has filed ownership for the internet domain name “iPhone5.com” and what makes this interesting is that the website is already a forum for the device. from the looks of it, there are only two equally possible options. Either the phone exists, and this is Apple trying to claim the domain name in order to set up a redirect for the announcement and launch, or this is a just Apple acquiring domain names related to their brand.

I feel like, and certainly hope, that is the first. since the closing of Apple’s forums, Apple has always promoted fan sites, so it seems unlikely they would want to close one down. then again, they could always request the site to transfer to another domain.

I also feel like the next iPhone could go the way of the iPad in the terms of the naming of the device, but in a world of numbered and uniquely identifiable, I don’t see them changing their working advertising method for the very successful phone.

The identification number for the filing is D2012-0951 if you want to follow the news further.

iPhone 5 May Truly Feature NFC Technology

How you can get VERY rich during times of economic turmoil, even if you don’t have a lot of money to invest…Watch the Video

The NFC technology has been a rumored feature of the iPhone 5. The latest reports say that that there is a big chance for the feature to be really included in the upcoming iPhone release. in case that holds true, the iPhone 5 will be the first ever iPhone to have the NFC technology and may pave the way for the technology to also become a part of other iOS devices later on.

The most recent news about the NFC technology reaching the iPhone 5 comes from Patently Apple which is known for its discovery of the latest Apple patents that provides clues to the possible new features of Apple products such as the iPhone. Patently Apple said that the Cupertino giant had a patent filing that will let users share playlists via iTunes and move information from the account of one user to the account of another.

The latest patent joins another one that Apple filed last February. That patent lets the new iPhone or other iOS device to be utilized as an iWallet which means that payments can be made by the iPhone 5 for certain items.

Even if using the iPhone as a wallet sounds exciting, several Apple users and fans still think that it would be better if the phone will have a feature that will let them share things with ease from one iPhone to another without the need to use Wifi. some examples of “things” that iPhone users want to share include a playlist, a song, a friend’s contact information and videos from YouTube.

The NFC or Near Field Communications technology have endless possibilities. Although the patent does not clearly stipulate the new iPhone as the NFC’s recipient, it’s quite obvious from past information that Apple has an intention to feature the technology to its latest iPhone models. moreover, it seems that Apple has set huge plans for the NFC technology in the upcoming iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 launching with 4-inch screen, new Dock connector?

What's next for Apple's iPhone line?

(Credit:Apple)

TheiPhone 5 rumors keep coming.

Apple’s upcoming smartphone will come with a 4-inch screen, due mainly to a thinner, taller body, according to Apple-focused site iLounge, citing an unnamed source. the site’s source claims Apple’s newiPhone will be 10mm taller than theiPhone 4S, and about 2mm thinner. By keeping the same width and tossing in the display to fit the new form factor, Apple is able to deliver more screen space than what’s available on 3.5-inch-equipped iPhones, according to the source.

PTT Solution INC brings a new fishing & flicking game Doraemon Fishing 2 to the Google Play May 08

HANOI, VIETNAM (PRWEB) May 08, 2012

PTT Solution INC today announces that a new fishing & flicking game Doraemon Fishing 2, one of the most downloaded games in App Store in February 2012, is now available for Android devices today, free to download.

In this version, we start going fishing as Doreamon, Nobita or Shizuka and try to feed beloved dinosaur Pisu. Beside casting the hook as deep as possible to collect coins and catch fishes while avoiding sharks, with the new gameplay, players will touch on fishing jumping out and flick them towards Pisu.

The iOS version of Doraemon Fishing...

Although the front of the iPhone 5 will look about the same, the back will feature a flat, metal panel stretching from beneath the camera to nearly the bottom. iLounge’s sources did not say why the device might come with that additional element. Aside from the metal panel, the device will boast Gorilla Glass 2 technology, according to the site’s source.

One of the more surprising moves, though, might be iLounge’s contention that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 with a new Dock connector featuring fewer pins than the 30-pin option found across its mobile devices today. the new connector is “closer to a pill shape” and will find its way to all future mobile devices the company launches, according to iLounge.

Rumors have been surrounding the iPhone 5 for months now. much of what iLounge claims will be coming to the device has already been cited in previous rumors. And in each case, Apple has stayed tight-lipped, allowing the rumor mill to heat up and speculation to run rampant. so, be sure to take all of this with a healthy heaping of salt until the final product is officially announced.

And when might that final product be announced? iLounge says the iPhone 5 is slated for a fall release.

The Future of the iPhone

Since its launch in 2007, the iPhone has consistently grown its presence in the market, behind Apple’s marketing & ability to create a cult-ish following. Today, it has become the second largest smartphone platform in the industry. The smartphone industry itself has grown by nearly 50% over the last year. looking at this, it’s natural to assume that the iPhone will continue its growth trajectory, just like Android has. not so fast, let’s take a deeper look.

1) Short Term – Apple’s products, specifically the iPhone and iPad, follow a sales cycle where sales peak at the launch of a new product and tail off just before the launch of the next version (for example, before the launch of the iPhone 4S). now that the iPhone 4S launch is complete, expect this same trend to come to continue with demand slowing and tailing off until the launch of the iPhone 5. but there are another few more wrinkles here that were responsible for the iPhone’s Q4 performance:

(i) Pent-up demand for the iPhone – as the gap between the launch of the iPhone 4 and the 4S was 15 months, it created great pent-up demand- for the new iPhone model. Apple’s strategy of following 2 year contracts created demand from iPhone 3GS users who were not able to upgrade to the iPhone 4 last year.

(ii) Selling older iPhone models at lower prices – In order to compete with Android at the lower end of the market as well, Apple made a move to sell older models at lower price points. this undoubtedly boosted sales, but would have cannibalized sales of the iPhone 4S as well.

(iii) Late launch of Galaxy Nexus – In conjunction with this, the most anticipated Android handset, the Galaxy Nexus, didn’t launch in the US until December 15th. this created a similar sales cycle effect on Android sales in Q4, with buyers holding off purchases until the Galaxy Nexus was available. Due to this impact, smartphone sales in the US slowed in Q4 and Android’s share of handset’s sold in the quarter reduced to about 48% (in the US market).

2) Long Term – now that we’ve understood the iPhone’s Q4 performance and have a fair understanding of where it’s headed in 2012, let’s have a look at the long-term outlook of the iPhone. despite the iPhone being a premium product, it is available from carriers in the US & Europe on contract, for carrier subsidized prices. Even though the handsets are available on contract for the same prices as high end Android phones, Apple demands a much higher subsidy from carriers (at $450 per device) than what Android manufacturers do. as a result, the iPhone is far more expensive for a carrier to sell than an Android handset. The impact of these subsidies gets even worse once we take into account the move by Apple to sell older iPhone models at lower prices. why do carriers go along with these terms? The easy answer is because they want to maintain their market share and are afraid of losing customers to other carriers. but the real answer is a little more complex than that.

One of the reasons is that increasing smartphone penetration (currently around 50%) drives increasing data usage, which is the real revenue driver for carriers. as smartphone penetration increases, the carriers would have less motivation to continue their massive subsidies on the iPhone. as a result, they would either demand better terms from Apple or increase prices of contract iPhone sales to consumers. The most likely outcome is the increase of contract prices, which would have a direct impact of sales volume. another factor compounding this problem is the network data crunch caused by the staggering growth in data usage. as carriers need further investments to shore up their network infrastructure, they will be even more unwilling to allow Apple to bully them into submission. I’ve heard arguments that this is similar to the case of Walmart squeezing supplier margins. That is a false analogy, because Walmart doesn’t need an individual supplier as much as Apple needs individual carriers – I need a whole new paragraph to delve into this, so keep reading.

Why does Apple need carriers? Apple’s profitability is driven by the large margins it makes on its products. as the iPhone is responsible for over 60% of Apple’s revenues, the iPhone’s pricing model is one of the key factors driving their profitability. In developed markets, with the carrier subsidized model, this isn’t a problem for consumers. but in emerging markets, where Android is even more dominant and the iPhone doesn’t have much of a presence, carriers aren’t as willing to bow to Apple’s demands. In addition to this, the carrier subsidized smartphones haven’t really taken off in countries like India, where outright purchases are more popular. In India, the iPhone is priced at least 20-25% more than high end Android handsets and Samsung is overtaking Nokia & RIM to be the market leader. Apple clearly has had a difficult time penetrating emerging markets, which makes its dependence on carriers in developed markets even more critical.

In conclusion – Carriers will have no choice, but to raise prices of iPhones on contract, which will undoubtedly impact the market share of the iPhone.

iPhone 5 Rumor: Taller, Thinner, With A Four-Inch Screen

As the launch date for the iPhone 5 gets closer, certain details about the new phone’s design appear to be firming up. or, if not firming up, then at least getting repeated more widely, and from an increasingly diverse array of sources. some of the most common ones include a larger screen and some kind of metal rear panel.

Today, iLounge has published details of the new iPhone, and they appear to confirm many of the rumors. according to iLounge’s sources (which have proven pretty reliable in the past), the next iPhone will, in fact, have a 4-inch screen. the new phone will apparently make room for the larger screen by getting a height boost of 10 millimeters – from 115 millimeters to 125. Width is reported to stay virtually unchanged.

The new iPhone is also, it seems, going to get a metal panel on the back. Interestingly, only part of the rear panel will be metal – a metal plate near the middle. the upper and lower portions of the rear panel will be made of some other material – plastic or ceramic, most likely. if true, this is a fairly unusual move for Apple. Historically the iPhone’s rear panel has been one single piece (be it plastic or glass). Blending two different materials in one rear panel is a design choice that Apple has tended to avoid (with good reason).

Height isn’t the only dimension that’s likely to change, apparently. the next iPhone will continue Apple’s preference for making its gadgets thinner and thinner with each major redesign. while the iPhone 4S is a fairly hefty 9.3 mm thick, the new iPhone will be 7.4 millimeters, a reduction of around 20%.

Finally, iLounge’s report confirms a rumor that’s been around for several months: a new, smaller dock connector. while the current dock connector on iOS devices has 30 pins and is fairly wide, this one will have fewer pins and be significantly narrower. the reason for the narrower connector is a matter of real estate: the smaller connector would take up less space inside the phone, making a little extra room for things like 4G radios, a larger battery, or any number of other components.

While this is all still just rumor, the fact is that iLounge has a pretty good track record. though they don’t have a perfect record, they’ve often been right about the details of upcoming products. if they’re right this time, then it looks like Apple really is finally abandoning the 3.5-inch screen that they’ve held onto through five generations of iPhone.

What do you think? would you like to see a 4-inch iPhone? can Apple make the iPhone thinner and still fit a 4G radio inside? Let us know in the comments.

iPhone 5 SIM card tray suggests no major redesign

With the iPhone 5 expected to launch as early as September this year, parts for the new phone will start appearing on production lines soon in order to get millions manufactured in time to meet the inevitable demand.

Revised parts means new parts for someone on a production line to leak, and that’s apparently what has just happened with the iPhone 5 SIM card tray. the leak comes courtesy of accessory company SW-Box, who claim to have received the part from one of its suppliers.

Now I admit a SIM card tray isn’t the most exciting component someone could leak, but it is actually quite telling as to the overall design of the new phone. Everyone is expecting a very different looking iPhone with a tapered back and a move away from the flat edges and glass back of the iPhone4/4S. But this card tray suggests otherwise.

As you can see from the image above, the tray continues to sport a flat edge that will be visible on the casing. If the iPhone 5 does have a radical new design, then this card slot couldn’t have a flat edge like this, could it?

Of course, with this being a leak, it could turn out this is just an iPhone 4S SIM card tray. It could also be Apple having some fun knowing components leak even at the merest suggestion it is part of the iPhone 5 design.

Even so, the iPhone 5 could just be another iterative step in the development of the phone. I’d be surprised if it didn’t include a larger display and a thinner body, but then I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple managed to fit it into a case that’s almost exactly the same as the iPhone 4S design.

iPhone 5 rumor rollup for the week ending April 27

This week’s announcement and almost immediate sellout of Apple‘s Worldwide Developers Conference in June ignited anticipation for, well, awesome stuff related to iPhone 5.

This week: the war of the Home buttons, how to make the next iPhone really thin, blaming iPhone 4S buyers for “delaying” iPhone 5 and for making it, already, a dud.

You read it here second.

“Though there are still hundreds of thousands of die-hard Apple-heads, a growing number of them are questioning the future of Apple, and just what the iPhone 5 release date will bring.”      International Business Times, discovering and uncovering a Disturbing and Ominous Trend in the comments by two users on a Mac Rumors forum.

iPhone 5 will have a redesigned Home button, and it will be round or maybe rounded square

In the iOSphere, it’s easy to lose a sense of perspective. All the talk about the wondrous Liquidmetal, and LTE, and quad-core processors obscures what is really important, what is really worthy of obsession.

The iPhone Home button.

WATCH OUT, APPLE: Samsung, Qualcomm positioned to dominate LTE patent wars

In a truly confused and confusing post at a website called Mobile & Apps, we learn that the current iPhone’s round Home button will be redesigned to be … round in the Next iPhone.

The basis of the scoop by Vamien McKalin is a posting at the website of a Chinese replacement parts supplier, called Truesupplier, showing something labeled “OEM Apple iPhone 5 Home Button Key.” A steal at $8.99.

“There have been many rumors about the new iPhone 5, but this latest from the mill seems legitimate, and that is mainly because of the source,” McKalin writes, oblivious to the irony of the term “legitimate rumor.” he says the new button revealed by Truesupplier “looks different” from the current button: It has a “round design which looks similar to the iPhone icons we’ve come to love and hate over the years.” therefore, “this might give us an idea on what the UI design could look like when the iPhone 5 hits store shelves later in the year.”

Rollup is a tad skeptical that the iPhone’s Home button is a reliable indicator of changes to the iOS user interface.

“TrueSupplier has images of a side by side comparison of both the rumored new button, and the one on the iPhone 4S,” he writes. But what the side-by-side images on the website actually seem to show are top and bottom views of the “new” button. But since both the existing and new buttons are round, it’s a bit confusing unless what McKalin means is that the “new” button is convex, instead of concave.

That might be kind of a big deal. Or maybe not.

“The changes are clearly seen, though not really a huge chance to warrant any form of excitement,” he concludes.

The new button “suggests that Apple might release the iPhone 5 without a touch sensitive button. However, we’re not sure if that is a good idea or not …,” McKalin writes. We’re not sure either because if you press a button that’s not touch-sensitive, then the button wouldn’t, you know, do anything. But McKalin actually might mean that it wouldn’t be a “virtual” or on-screen button. That’s a rumor that surfaced in 2011, the idea being if Apple turned the physical button into an on-screen button, there’s be more room for a larger display.

iPhone 5 Rumours: 3D camera and display, nano-SIM, 4.6in display – iPad/iPhone – Macworld UK

Over the past week the iOS rumour mill has been churning through the following rumours: 3D breakthroughs, labour woes and shortages in China, the specter of nano-SIM, and disputed screen sizes.

First up: iPhone 5 will have an awesome and mind-blowing 3D camera and display (More below…)

Patently Apple posted details from the latest Apple patent application — for 3D cameras — made public by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The iOSsphere rejoiced.

Nothing is quite as intriguing as technology almost no one understands. Here’s the up-top summary by Patently Apple: “The new cameras in development will utilize new depth-detection sensors such as LIDAR, RADAR, and Laser that will create stereo disparity maps in creating 3D imagery. Additionally, the camera will use advanced chrominance and luminance Sensors for superior color accuracy. And if that wasn’t enough, the new cameras will not only include facial recognition but also facial gesturing recognition.”

APPLE IPHONEYS: The iPhone 5 edition

Clearly, no one except an elite group of National Science Foundation grant winners has any idea what this means.

Perhaps fortunately, Patently Apple simply summarized what This all Means in its enthusiastic headline: “Apple invents killer 3D imaging camera for iOS devices.” it set the tone for much of what followed.

At the iPhone 5 News Blog, Michael Nace was thrilled.

“The ‘end’ here would be a further extension of Apple’s interest in giving mobile users incredibly intuitive ways of not only taking pictures, but also editing, processing, storing, and sharing them,” he gushes. “One can only begin to imagine the apps and other related software that could accompany a camera’s ability to detect and possibly even interpret things like depth and facial expression.”

And if Nace was telling you this via Apple’s Facetime and spiffy new 3D camera, little annotations would pop up on your iPhone 5′s spiffy new 3D display with interpretations of his expressions like “amazed” and “excited” and “mindblown.”

“It begins to fit into the larger picture of artificial intelligence,” Nace assures us, creating a picture that no one has painted before. Artificial Intelligence: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship iPhone 5 News Blog. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new rumors, to seek out new blog posts and new technologies, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

“Of course, it would stand to reason that an iPhone 5 with a 3D camera would necessarily have to include a 3D display to go with it,” says Nace, even though the Apple patent apparently doesn’t mention anything about displays, let alone the practical issues of creating one for the Next iPhone. “It is worth noting that, in addition to 3D camera rumors for the iPhone 5, there have been a fair share of 3D display rumors as well. … however, none of the recent display rumors for the iPhone 5 have indicated anything about 3D.” like that would stop us from spreading rumors.

“But given Apple’s penchant for doing things better than its competitors, it is possible that they have big plans for 3D technology for the iPhone 5 that would simply blow our minds,” Nace concludes, reverently.

News Flash – Electric Gadgets to Firm Bellies Actually Work

Yes, it's a little known fact, and it doesn't get much publicity, so I'm here to tell you that all those electric gadgets work

You know the ones I mean, they strap around your belly, maybe with a bit of cream underneath, and they vibrate, sending electric pulses through to the muscles, stimulating them.

This means you can strap the belt on while you sit down to watch an episode of The Simpsons maybe, and your ab muscles will get worked as much as doing 100 crunches.

Superb, eh? Er, well, yes - it would be superb if it were true. Unfortunately it...

This is a classic iOSsphere “conclusion.” Apple does great things; it’s possible they’ll do more great things; and those great things will be, you know, really great. therefore it would stand to reason that Apple will do great things with 3D. After all, it’s hard to imagine Apple not doing something great with 3D, and doing so, it’s worth noting, in an artificially intelligent kind of way.

iPhone 5 production threatened by Chinese labour strike. But maybe not.

M.I.C. Gadget informs us that some workers at a Foxconn assembly plant in northern China are on strike, that the “next generation iPhone!” is or will be assembled there, and that Foxconn plans to hire 20,000 more employees to build it.

The somewhat murky story by Star Chang seems to be relying on a “local news report” (with no hyperlink). Chang says that “A manager from Foxconn confirmed that some workers had downed tools.” But Chang apparently didn’t talk to the manager.

Whatever the job action is, it’s taking place at Foxconn’s plant in the city of Taiyuan. The local news report tells M.I.C.’s Chang that this plant is “holding heavy recruitment to meet the production of the Apple new iPhones. Yes, you read that right, not iPhone 4/4s, it is the next generation iPhone!”

“According to local news report, the factory urgently needs 20,000 more workers because Foxconn has already received orders for the production of iPhone 5 …”

Oddly, it’s CNET UK that has the missing link, to a Google Translate version of the Chinese language original.

Here’s an example of the result: “Flourishing industry based on Apple’s position, the iPhone product line is Foxconn as the most important one of the foundry business in the mainland. Mr. Yu said, the Foxconn iPhone5 smart phone 85% of orders each year to produce about 57 million.”

Even more oddly, CNET UK’s Joe Svetlik seems to accept M.I.C. Gadget’s account of this garble as gospel, except where he elaborates on it out of whole cloth. Thus he confidently concludes, “The Chinese company has already received the order for the next generation mobile … and because of strikes, it needs 20,000 more workers.”

Yet another CNET site concluded Foxconn has already hired the 20,000. so, from the same original Chinese story, by a local news source, the iOSsphere is certain that Foxconn will start hiring 20,000, is in the process of hiring them, or has already hired them at the company’s paltry wage rates.

“What could this possibly mean?” asks this second CNET post, in the iOSsphere’s hallmark rhetorical question. “Well, the smart money says that they’re there to help with a massive order to build the iPhone 5.”

What else could it be?

The Foxconn plant, like so much in Red China, is a mystery. “After some digging from the Chinese internet, we couldn’t find too much information on Taiyuan Foxconn,” Chang admits (keep in mind, he writes for a Chinese website). “All we know is the factory mainly produced electronic components for mobile equipment.” Which is sort of like an American news reporter saying, “All we know about Intel is that it makes some electronic components for computers.”

Maybe Chang could have found out more with some help in circumventing the Chicoms’ notorious Internet censorship.

iPhone 5 will have a breakthrough nano-SIM card

Even though you won’t know, or care, that it has one.

Over at ValueWalk “Financial News with emphasis on value Investing,” Saqib Khan shows he’s up to speed with the latest technologies and their implications for value investing.

“iPhone 5 may Come with Nano-Sim Technology,” his headline declares. “This new nano-SIM would be smaller than the micro SIM. The company thinks that this way, they’ll be getting an edge over their competition, most likely Samsung, Nokia and Blackberry,” Khan writes.

He’s a bit vague on what that edge actually would be, but he gives the old college try. “The new nano-SIM will be about one third smaller than the micro-SIM,” he points out. “This would give Apple more space to add other features to the phone. with nano-SIM, Apple can develop smaller and slimmer devices giving more room for other components.”

Brilliant. as we’ve pointed out before, a persistent and widespread form of iOSsphere deductive thinking relies on the conviction that the iPhone, like Dr. Who’s Tardis, is a dimensionally transcendental object — it’s bigger on the inside than the outside. By making the iPhone smaller and slimmer, you create more room for other components.

Now if would just get the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to embrace the same idea. This week ETSI “decided to postpone a vote on a specification for nano-SIMs, after a row erupted between Apple and the backers of a competing proposal, Nokia, Research In Motion (RIM) and Motorola Mobility,” according to a story by IDG News Service.

iPhone 5, which will be just like iPhone 4S but different, arrives in fall 2012

Never mind 3D. iMore has been “hearing” a lot about the Next iPhone, or the “New iPhone” as they’re calling it, and they want to share “some additional information” they’ve “received.”

This always sounds way better than “we’re reading all these other rumor blogs and want to rehash months-old rumors so they sound fresh.”

iMore shares that they “previously reported” Apple will be shrinking the 30-pin dock connector, creating a “micro-dock” that will, you guessed it, “create more room inside for other components” [See "Tardis" above]. This also was “reported” to be planned for the iPhone that was announced in October 2011.

And earlier this week iMore “reported” that Apple “was planning to stick with the current 3.5-inch screen size for the new iPhone.” But it turns out that this is one of those special kinds of Apple plans — the kind that “wasn’t set in stone,” according to iMore’s Rene Ritchie. And that means the stick-to-it 3.5-inch screen could become unstuck and “get a little bigger.”

Still sharing, Ritchie tells us the new iPhone “will be 4G LTE compatible.” Presumably that plan is set in stone, or perhaps silicon. “That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, considering the new iPad supports LTE and it’s hard to imagine Apple giving the iPad a feature like that and not passing it on to the iPhone,” says Ritchie, using the Analysis by Analogy Mode of thinking. if one Apple product gets X, then it’s hard to imagine other Apple products, no matter how different, not getting the same feature.

Ritchie also shares about The Timeframe. “We’ve mentioned October 2012 as the current release schedule for iPhone 5,1 [this nomenclature is an iMore techie affectation] before and that’s still the plan,” Ritchie says. But he neglects mentioning the crucial detail of whether this is a set-in-stone plan or a not-set-in-stone-plan. “The exact date won’t be determined until closer to launch, but the iPhone is locked to a fall cycle for the immediate future.” Ritchie may be relying here on the well-known telepathic link, so widely used by iOSsphere bloggers, with Apple CEO Tim Cook’s brain.

“That makes sense for a number of reasons,” Ritchie claims. But what they all boil down to is a bet that Apple will release the Next iPhone one year after releasing the iPhone 4S.

iPhone 5 will a 4.6-inch display, not the same old measly 3.5-inch one

Over at Technorati, Dan Reyes does some sharing of his own and Rene Ritchie probably won’t like it.

“According to a report, the upcoming iPhone 5 will sport a 4.6-inch Retina display just like the ‘resolutionary’ new iPad,” Reyes writes. And this “report” is backed up by a “popular and leading technology and gadgets news blog” which points to this same “new rumor.”

“And how does this rumor came into being?” asks the popular and leading technology and gadgets news blog with a grammatical deficit.

Rollup has often pondered this very question.

Often, it comes into being because everyone and his brother repeats what everybody and their brother has said about a foreign language blog post citing one anonymous source.

So Technorati links to the “report,” which in this case is a Reuters news story about a post, in Korean, at the Maeil Business Newspaper in South Korea. Reyes can call it a “report” because it’s a Lamestream News agency writing about, in this case, a foreign language blog post that cites one “unnamed industry source.”

According to this UIS, “Apple has decided on the bigger 4.6-inch display for its next iPhone and started placing orders to its suppliers.” In what appears to be Reuters’ only substantive contribution, the reporter contacted Apple’s major display suppliers, LG display and Samsung Electronics, which “declined to comment” presumably because it’s a rumor and commenting on every damn iPhone rumor would require a hiring spree of new PR reps, probably 20,000 at least.

The popular and leading technology and gadgets news blog, let’s call it PLTGNB for short, to which Reyes links doesn’t itself link to any sources, and simply repeats the rumor the blogger has clearly read elsewhere. The anonoblogger’s conclusion: “We’ll just have to wait and see while keeping an eagle eye on this sizzling rumor. Stay tuned.”

Frankly, Rollup expected a bit more after reading the blogger’s “about me” page at PLTGNB: “My friends, fans, and followers call me ‘The Ultimate Tech Geek.’ I’m an accomplished technology writer, a sought-after tech blogger, and a published tech examiner. many people regard me as one of the world’s best technology news trendsetters. I’m one of only a few technology evangelist [sic] in the world.”

We think that’s iOSpherian for “I’m not smart enough to make up a rumor but I sure know how to repeat one.”
